iFaith 1.4 Download Available | Save SHSH Blobs on iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1

iPhone Dev Team notorious member iH8sn0w released earlier today another updated version of iFaith simply called iFaith 1.4 version. For those of you who don’t already know iFaith is great tool that helps you to save SHSH Blobs of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

iFaith 1.4 brings a couple of new features, but the most important is that it now supports saving SHSH blobs for iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 firmware. However neither iPhone 4S nor iPad 2 are currently supported, but iH8sn0w promised to fix that in the future.

iFaith 1.4 New Features and Improvements:

Major code improvementsBug FixesWindows XP full supportDumping is way faster nowNo A5-based iDevices yetI strongly recommend you to use iFaith 1.4 instead of any other tool that helps you to save SHSH blobs, because with iFaith you can save the blobs for iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1 as long as you currently run that firmware on your iDevice even if Apple is not signing it anymore.

There is also one thing you need to take notice of: although you can save iOS 5 SHSH blobs now, you can’t yet downgrade to the stock version once you’ve updated to iOS 5.0.1 or later. This is due to Apple’s policy to ensure people to stick with the latest iOS version.

iPhone DFU Mode | How to Enter / Exit DFU Mode on iPhone

There are still lots of people who don’t have a clue about DFU Mode or how to enter / exit DFU mode on iPhone. However even if you do have a clue about DFU mode you can still find this article interesting and might even learn a few things that you didn’t know.

Well DFU mode represents a state that helps you interface your iPhone, with iTunes, but it doesn’t load the boot loader nor the operating system of your iDevice. Also for those of you who don’t already know DFU stands for Device Firmware Update.

The main reason why you have to access DFU mode on iPhone is to change the firmware on their iDevice. This comes in real help if you either need to downgrade to an older iOS version or you just need to create a custom firmware in order to jailbreak or unlock your iDevice. For example if you own an iPhone and you want to have an older iOS version you will need to go through iPhone DFU Mode in order to accomplish that.

Step 1: Using a micro USB-cable connect your iPhone to your computer.
Step 2:

Launch iTunes.
Step 3: Turn iPhone OFF.
Step 4: Hold down both Home and Sleep/Power buttons for 10 seconds, than release the Power Button but keep holding down the Home Button until a message pops up. The message should look like the on in the image below, revealing that iPhone recovery mode has been detected.

Step 5: You will know you are in iPhone DFU Mode when the display screen goes completely black.

Congratulations you are now in iPhone DFU Mode. Take notice that if you see the Apple logo, iTunes logo or any other message on your screen that means that you are no longer in DFU Mode, you are in standard Recovery Mode. Basically if you don’t have a black screen you are out of DFU Mode and you need to do the steps all over again.

This isn’t such a hard thing to do, one of the easier ways to exit DFU Mode on iPhone is to hold down both Home and Sleep/Power buttons while your iPhone is connected to iTunes. After that just press the power button and your iPhone should restart as usual.

TinyUmbrella is a very useful app that basically helps you to make SHSH signatures requests for firmware restores and also runs in background the selected signatures thus enabling iTunes to go on with the restore. Acidsnow for 5.0.1 / 5.0 for iPhone 4 3GS iPad and iPod Touch 4G

Acidsnow is the newest jailbreak tool, and it was released just a few hours ago by the developers at PwnDevTeam. Like any new tweak and jailbreak tool, Acidsnow is a great addition to every jailbreaker’s kit.

Acidsnow doesn’t bring any extra features at this time if you compare it with the already existing tools like Redsnow and Snowbreeze, but it looks like it will bring some extra functionalities in the near future.

With the future updates of Acidsnow jailbreakers will be able to perform remote jailbreaking, custom IPSW creation and iRecivery remote.

The bad news is that Acidsnow for 5.0.1 / 5.0 is available for Mac users only, but it looks like the future updates will bring Windows, Linux and BSD support.

Acidsnow for iOS 5.0.1 /5.0 currently provides a tethered jailbreak just like Redsnow and Snowbreeze and doesn’t yet provide baseband preservation, so if you’re an unlocker than I suggest

that you use the other above mentioned tools instead of Acidsnow

Acidsnow supports the following iDevices:

iPhone 4iPhone 3GSiPad 1iPod Touch 4G

Follow the tutorial below to jailbreak your iPhone 4 3GS, iPad or iPod Touch using Acidsnow for 5.0.1 / 5.0

Download Acidsnow from the download links belowConnect your iDevice to your Mac via USB and turn it offSelect the “Show Assistant” box and follow the prompted instructions to enter DFU modeAfter your iDevices enters DFU mode go ahead and click on “Jailbreak”Once the process is complete and your iDevice will restart turn it off again and enter DFU mode againAfter your iDevices enters DFU again click on “Tethered Boot ” to boot in a tethered state

Note: You will have to repeat the last step each time you reboot your iDevice

How to Save SHSH Blobs with TinyUmbrella for Windows [Guide]

In this article you will find some very useful step by step information about how to save SHSH Blobs with TinyUmbrella for Windows users. For those of you who don’t already know SHSH Blobs represents the unique digital signature that Apple assigns to each iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

The reason you need to save SHSHs is that the Apple server only allows you to restore only to the specific firmware of the iDevice that they sign. This process lasts only for a limited period of time, after that Apple stops delivering the SHSHs for the firmware and you no longer get access to restore that firmware ever again. How does this work? Well every time you connect your iDevice to iTunes and choose to update or restore the iOS the SHSH ECID print is sent to Apple servers for authentication and after the authentication is confirmed than iTunes proceeds with the update / restore.

However every time you update your iOS version, the previous SHSH digital signature is erased as it was associated with the earlier iOS version. So if you don’t save  SHSH Blobs before you make the update it’s very difficult to make a restore to an older iOS version. Here comes TinyUmbrella for Windows,

a little and very useful app, and helps you save SHSH Blobs easily.

Follow the simple instructions below in order to save SHSH Blobs with TinyTumbrella for Windows:

Step 1: Download TinyUmbrella for Windows.

Step 2: If you don’t have Java installed you can free download it from Here.

Step 3: Go to Start > Programs > Accessories right click on Notepad, click “Run as administrator” and hit “Yes”

Step 4: Go to My Computer > C: > Windows > System32 > drivers > etc and open the “hosts” file. You need to select first to Show hidden files by pressing F10 and navigate to Tools > Folder Options > View

Step 5: Look for “gs.apple.com” line and if found remove it. Save and Exit.

Step 6: Run TinyUmbrella.exe file.

Step 7: Connect your iDevice to your computer though the USB cable.

Step 8: Now just Select Save SHSH from the right upper corner and TinyUmbrella will do its magic. You can pre-define the destination directory folder from “Advanced”.

Step 9: You will be prompted with “SHSH Saved” when the process is complete. Congratulations you successfully learned how to save SHSH Blobs with TinyUmbrella for Windows.

If you encounter any problems and issues during the process of how to save SHSH Blobs with TinyUmbrella for Windows please post a comment below and our staff will gladly help you out.

Well it seems that Apple released another Apple TV firmware named as Apple TV 4.4.3 update. This being said i am glad to announce that jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 can be done at this moment with SeasonPass, FireCore’s popular jailbreak tool, and it is quite easy to use.

However there is a catch. Not all the apps installed before jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 will work, for example Plex, the movie server, and Rowmote are not yet supported by the latest Season Pass version. Also nothing has changed since jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.2 therefore jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 will also be a tethered one so make sure that you boot into a tethered state every time you restart your Apple TV or it runs out of battery life. Follow our step by step instructions posted here in order to enter into the tether state.

Now that we have everything in place let’s move on to our tutorial and see how to jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 with SeasonPass tool:

Step 1: Launch SeasonPass.

Step 2: Select the “Create IPSW” option.

Step 3: Wait until SeasonPass for Apple TV 4.4.3 finishes the download process of all the files required for the custom jailbroken firmware.

Step 4: You will be asked to connect your Apple TV to your Mac/PC through the USB cable, but remember to keep the power cable disconnected. Now hold both “Menu” and “Play/Pause” buttons from the Apple TV’s remote for 7 seconds in order to put your Apple TV in DFU mode.

Step 5: iTunes should now start automatically and SeasonPass for Apple TV 4.4.3 should move forward with the restore in iTunes.

Step 6: iTunes should now confirm that the restoration process is now complete and you’ve successfully jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 with SeasonPass Tool.

Stay tuned with iHowTo and you will be the first to find out when and if jailbreak Apple TV 4.4.3 comes in an untethered mode.

Enable Face Time Over 3G on iOS 5 Hidden Feature [How To]

I know you probably find a bit disappointing that Apple didn’t released a few promised features along side iOS 5. On the other hand although some of the features haven’t been released by Apple with iOS 5, others were well hidden and just waiting to be discovered. Enable Face Time over 3G on iOS 5 is one of them.

Well Apple went to all this trouble to hide those features because it is easier for them to disable certain features rather than entirely write them out. Thus while the features are well hidden in the iOS, Apple solves the main issues and then quietly removes them when the time is right.

There is also a downside of

this. You need to jailbreak iOS 5 in order to enable Face Time over 3G and since there is no jailbreak available for iPhone 4S or iPad 2 at the moment this feature is restricted to iPhone 4 only.

Follow the simple step by step instructions set below in order to enable Face Time over 3G on iOS 5:

Step 1: Install iFile from Cydia

Step 2: Browse to  /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/

Step 3: Now open N90AP.plist and underneath as shown below enter

3Gvenice

Step 4: Congratulations. Now you can use Face Time over 3G on iOS 5 without any other third party applications.

How To Enable AutoCorrect Keyboard Bar for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on iOS 5

In this article i will present you some simple step by step instructions about how to enable AutoCorrect Keyboard Bar on iOS 5 for your iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPad1, iPad 2 and iPod Touch. Autocorrect Keyboard Bar is a new hidden feature discovered in iOS 5 which as its name suggests activates a bar on top of your keyboard. This bar reveals you the autocorrected options based on all the letters that you’ve entered and which you can insert into the text body with a simple tap.

AutoCorrect Keyboard Bar was brought to all of us by Sonny Dickson, iOS developer and hacker, as a news post published on his blog where he discusses about it and presents some simple step by step instructions about how to enable it.

Connect your iDevice to your PC/Mac via a micro USB-cable and start iTunes if it doesn’t start automatically.Make a backup of your iDevice.Download iBackupBot which is available for both Windows/Mac versions. Install and run the program. At this time the backup that you’ve made earlier should be prompted, just load the backup.Open the file from Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboard.plist, IBackupBot will be most likely unregistered therefore click Cancel and then add the following code to the file: KeyboardAutocorrectionListsYESSave the file. Now you need to restore the modified backup edited by you. Just right click on the sidebar in iTunes and hit Restore.

At this time your iDevice should now restart and if you’ve followed the steps correctly AuroCorrect Keyboard Bar should now be enabled. Congratulations.

Also take notice that AutoCorrect Keyboard Bar on iOS 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch doesn’t require jailbreak at all, so just enjoy it.

I can confirm that this method works as i tested it on my brand new iPhone 4S, let me know how it works on your iDevice or if you have encountered any issues or problems.

Contact Bug Issue for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 Fix [How-To]

Increasingly more users reported that their brand new iPhone 4S failed to recognize contacts. According to Paul Hontz from The Startup Foundry this issue could be happening because of a contact bug on iOS 5.0.1 for all iPhone 4S users.

It seems that the bugs with the just released iOS 5 and its update iOS 5.0.1 are more than we would have expected. First it was the battery drain problems and now the contact bug issue for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1. What should we expect next?

Contact bug issue for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 works like this: when you receive a text message the iPhone doesn’t show the contact’s name even though it appears in your contact’s list. More than that when you receive another text from the same contact, the iPhone begins a new thread. Leave us a comment if you’ve experiencing the same problems,

or if you’ve found other bugs in iOS 5 / 5.0.1.

Take notice that this contact bug happens only to those on the Verizon network that own an iPhone 4S running on iOS 5.0.1.

If you have encountered any of the issues above follow the simple step by step instructions below and this should help your problem:

Step 1: Dial *228 (Verizon Support Number)

Step 2: Tap 1 in order to “Program or Activate”

Step 3: After the call ends, hit your Home Button twice to open the task manager

Step 4: Close the following apps: Message, Phone and Contacts

Step 5: Wait 5 minutes and check your Message app. Your iPhone should work properly now.

If it still doesn’t work try Step 2 again, but this time press tap “2? on your iPhone, some users reported to have better results. If it still doesn’t work just try a restore from a previous backup. Hopefully the next iOS update will also bring a fix for all this issues.

The latest Redsnow version allows us to jailbreak iOS 5, in a tethered state for now, on all iDevices except iPad 2 and iPhone 4S with just a few clicks, and it also allows baseband preservation for unlockers, which makes it the ultimate tool to jailbreak iOS 5.

Here’s a list of the iDevices on which you can jailbreak iOS 5:

iPhone 4, iPhone 3GSiPad 1iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G

This is a tethered jailbreak for iOS 5 and this means that you’ll have to boot in a jailbroken state every time you reboot your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, however a new Cydia tweak called semi-tether jailbreak for iOS 5 will allow you to use your iDevice if you accidentally reboot it and you don’t have access to a PC / Mac immediately.

NOTE: If you are an unlocker you must stay away from stock iOS 5 and skip the first part of this tutorial straight to the “For Unlockers” part below

You can follow one of the tutorials below to jailbreak iOS 5 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad or iPod Touch 3G, 4G using the latest version of Redsnow.

Update your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to iOS 5 using iTunesDownload the latest Redsnow to jailbreak iOS 5 from the download links belowRun Redsnow and select “Jailbreak”Check the “Install Cydia” box and then follow the instructions to enter DFU modeWait for Redsnow to finish jailbreaking iOS 5 on your device, and when it restarts you can proceed booting in a jailbroken state.Once your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch restarts, start Redsnow again and then click on “Extras”Check the “Just Boot” option and follow the instructions again to enter DFU mode.

That’s it, you have successfully managed to jailbreak iOS 5 on your iDevice, just remember that you have to redo steps 6 and 7 each time you reboot as the jailbroken state will disappear. Until the untethered jailbreak iOS 5 will be released this is the only working jailbreak and it will have to do.

FOR UNLOCKERS

If you are unlocker you need to stay away from the jailbreak iOS 5 tutorial above and stock iOS 5 and cook a custom IPSW file already jailbroken that will preserve your old baseband and make unlocking with Ultrasnow and Gevey SIM possible.

Follow the tutorial below to jailbreak iOS 5 on iPhone 4, 3GS and preserve the old baseband

Download the latest redsnow to jailbreak iOS 5 from the links belowDownload iOS 5.0 from the links belowStart Redsnow and select “Extras” and then “Custom IPSW”Wait for Redsnow to jailbreak iOS 5 and create the custom IPSW fileGo back to “Extras” and then select “Pwned DFU”Restore the custom IPSW file created with Redsnow to your iPhone 4, 3GS using iTunes

That’s it, you have successfully managed to jailbreak iOS 5 and preserve your baseband for unlock. You can now proceed with this tutorial to unlock with Ultrasnow or this tutorial to unlock with Gevey SIM.

Jailbreak iOS 5 Untethered Coming Soon | Chronic Dev Team Finds Bug in iOS 5

Chronic Dev Team member pod2g announced via Twitter that he found a bug exploit that could lead to jailbreak iOS 5 untethered release in the near future. He promised to focus entirely on bringing untethered jailbreak iOS 5 to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch as soon as possible.

For the moment we don’t know further details about the possible bug in iOS 5 that could lead to jailbreak iOS 5 untethered, but chances are that it could be an userland exploit like the one’s that p0sixninja revealed at MyGreatFest event held this year. If so, it will be some really great news because the userland exploits would be available for all iOS devices, which means that both iPhone 4S and iPad 2 will be getting the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.

However on the

other hand the userland exploits have its disadvantages. The most important one is that an userland exploit can be easily fixed with an iOS update, unlike bootrom exploits which can only be patched with a hardware revision.

At the moment jailbreak iOS 5 is available only in tethered mode, which for those of you who don’t already know means that you need to boot into the tethered state every time your iDevice runs out of power. iOS 5 / 5.0 can be jailbroken at the moment with Redsnow 0.9.9b8 and Snowbreeze 2.8b9, the latest and most popular jailbreaking tools available. Also follow our step by step instructions posted here in order to tethered jailbreak your iDevice running on iOS 5.

Stay tuned as we will keep you posted with the latest upcoming information about jailbreak iOS 5 untethered.

Just a few moments ago MuscleNerd announced via Twitter the release of Redsnow 0.9.9b8 for iOS 5.0.1. For those of you who don’t already know iOS 5.0.1 was released earlier today, but for developers only, thus you must be registered as a developer in order to download iOS 5.0.1.

Redsnow 0.9.9b8 for iOS 5.0.1 isn’t really a big update of the famous jailbreaking tool, it only brings native recognition for the just released iOS 5.0.1 for developers only. However because the iOS 5.0.1 firmware

isn’t public yet, you will still have to provide it once with Redsnow 0.9.9b8 for iOS 5.0.1. When you do that it will automatically cache all the important information so that you won’t need to select it all over again.

Follow our complete step by step guide posted here in order to tethered jailbreak your iDevice with Redsnow 0.9.9b8 for iOS 5.0.1. Unlockers best to stay away from Redsnow 0.9.9b8 as Ultrasnow hasn’t yet been updated and it might not support the latest iOS 5.0.1 dev only version.

Siri for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS is Available

Everybody knows what Siri is, and especially if Siri for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS is available. Well, Siri was successfully ported on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, even on iPod Touch 4G, and all this is possible thanks to the great work of developers from the jailbreak scene.

We have people like “chpwn” and “Steve Troughton-Smith” to thank to for Siri for iPhone 4 and Siri for iPhone 3GS, but we are now at the mercy of the rest of the developers to find a way to extract all the Siri files from the iPhone 4S IPSW file so that they can be successfully transported to the iPhone 4 and 3GS and all the rest of the iDevices that support iOS 5.

You see, Siri was made available only for iPhone 4S by Apple, as a marketing strategy, and distributing the Siri files from the iPhone 4S over the internet is piracy. Everybody knows, or at least everybody, that the developers of the iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev team are law abiding citizens, and will never promote or endorse piracy, and that;s why they have to

find a way to extract the files straight from the IPSW file, because then everybody would be able to access them just by downloading the file from the Apple servers.

Siri for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS is already available, but only if you already own an iPhone 4S so that you can transfer the files from one device to another. And what good would that do to you if you already own an iPhone 4S?

Take a look at the videos below to see Siri working on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS:

Siri for iPhone 4

Siri for iPhone 3GS

As you can see, we already have Siri for iPhone 4 and 3GS, we just need a way to extract the files, which is already a work in progress for all the jailbreakers out there.

I’d recommend you to bookmark this page, as it will be updated as soon as Siri can be installed on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS by everybody.
